Thank you Google Translate for helping me, especially when I’m talking with friends from our countries in their lingua franca. I get to pick up some words hehe :)
This was initiated when I heard the news about Indonesia suffering from natural disasters. I remembered one of my foreign friends that live in Indonesia and I posted on her wall asking how she is and telling her to stay safe, using Bahasa Indonesia.
Example: hati-hati in Filipino is ‘divided among n number of people’ in English (in that sense), while in Bahasa Indonesia it means ‘Be careful’.
Cool neh? Both Bahasa Indonesia and Filipino share some things from Malay so there are a lot of similar words, even though they don’t mean the same thing.
